Making a gear change in the ‘red bar’ will cause you to lose some speed and changing when in the ‘blue bar’ is ok but it will not be as smooth a shift as doing it in ‘green’. To make an effective gear change, wait for the speedometer to reach the ‘green bar’. Once the race has started you will have to change gears by tapping on the gearshift stick icon located on the right-hand side of the dashboard. How well you do ultimately comes down to your skill at changing gears, as your racer will automatically drive forward by itself once the race starts (wait for the green light).
